US Sen. Brown announces fed funding for nurse anesthetist training at YSU

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Cleveland, today announced more than $16,000 in new federal funding for nurse anesthetist training at Youngstown State University.

“Nurse anesthetists ensure the proper administration of anesthesia, which is critical to patient care,” Brown said in a news release. “This traineeship will give more nurses-in-training the opportunity to take on this specialty and care for Ohioans.”

The $16,684 grant comes from the Department of Health and Human Services through the Nurse Anesthetist Traineeship program. The program aims to increase access to nurse anesthetist care for underserved populations.

NAT grants provide funding for traineeships for licensed registered nurses who are enrolled as full-time students beyond the 12th month of study in a master’s or doctoral nurse anesthesia program.
