Officer shoots, injures 2 at shopping center in Maryland

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Police say an officer shot and injured two men at a Maryland shopping center, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Prince George's County police spokeswoman Julie Parker says the officers involved were not injured in the shooting this morning in Upper Marlboro.

Parker says Baltimore police notified county police of a stolen car on Monday, and county police tracked it to Upper Marlboro, east of Washington.

She says the shooting occurred when detectives arrived and one man pulled out a gun. Parker says police are looking into the possibility that the men were at the shopping center to rob a bank.

Police tweeted a photo of a gun on the ground surrounded by broken glass and said it was one of two recovered.
