The Youngstown Area Federation of Women’s Clubs met May 20 for its annual awards luncheon at Tippecanoe Country Club.

The Community Service Award went to Dr. Elena Rossi, a physician in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Akron Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital and in the Special Care Nursery at the Beeghly campus.

Barbara Higgins, a 50-year member of YAFWC, received the Woman of the Year Award. She has served as president of the Youngstown Federation and of the Northeast District of the Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs and has been second vice president and chairwoman of the annual scholarship fundraiser for the past 18 years.

Sean Baron, a graduate of Youngstown State University Dana School of Music, entertained.
