Man in 60s from Pa. dies in skydiving accident in Mahoning County today

SPRINGFIELD

A skydiver died around 1 p.m. today after he became tangled in the lines of his parachute, said the owner of Skydive Rick’s near the Petersburg Airport.

Rick Kuhns said the man, who’s name is not yet released, was able to jettison his main parachute and open his reserve, but it did not open properly and he hit the ground too hard.

The man, in his mid-60s, is from the Butler, Pa., area, Kuhns said.
