OVI checkpoints will be in force tonight


YOUNGSTOWN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that OVI checkpoints will be in force tonight.

The first will be from 7 to 10 p.m. today on SR-289 near Montgomery Avenue run by the Campbell Police Department and Youngstown Police Department.

The second will be from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. on U.S. 422 near Camden Avenue run by the Campbell, Coitsville and Youngstown police departments.

The OVI checkpoints, funded by federal grants, are set up to deter and arrest impaired drivers.

The checkpoints will be in conjunction with saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-impaired drivers.
