GIRARD
Ricco A. Acevedo, 37, of Girard and Struthers, will be arraigned Monday in Girard Municipal Court on charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and felonious assault involving his ex-girlfriend.
The woman went to the Girard Police Department at 12:50 a.m. Thursday to report that Acevedo punched her in the face and kicked her in the face and chest at her home on Howard Street a short time earlier.
The woman had major bruising to the side of her face, and her eye was swollen shut, police said. She was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment.
The woman said she was in the Howard address home when Acevedo came inside asking to see their child, and she refused. He pushed her in the chest and assaulted her, then took her cellphone and left, she said.
If convicted, Acevedo could get close to 30 years in prison.
The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitives Task Force arrested Acevedo on a warrant about 11:35 a.m. Thursday on Countyline Road in Weathersfield Township. He was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for treatment after he complained of not feeling well, then booked into the Trumbull County Jail.
