Poland can't complete the comeback and falls to Defiance.

6th: DEF 5, POL 3

The Bulldogs load the bases with two outs, but Eric White strikes out swinging to end the inning. Matt Baker has pitched well in relief for Poland, but they're running out of innings.

4th: DEF 5, POL 3

Back-to-back bang-bang plays go against Poland and Smiddy takes advantage with a RBI single in the top half of the inning. But the Bulldogs get the run back in the bottom half after the first two hitters reached base.

3rd: DEF 4, POL 2

The Bulldogs are on the board with a two-out RBI double from Nick Romeo. It was Poland's first hit of the game, scoring Jared Burkert. And then a little luck comes their way, as Smiddy drops a pop up in shallow left field. Romeo was running the bases hard the whole way, scoring from second. Bulldogs cut their deficit in half.

2nd: DEF 4, POL 0

Shay Smiddy drives in another run for Defiance with a two-out double. Knight is at 46 pitches through the first two innings.

1st inning: DEF 3, POL 0

Defiance put together three consecutive RBI hits to take an early lead. Knight struck out the side, but Poland will be playing from behind.

Adam Knight on the bump for Poland. He's 9-0 with just six earned runs on the season. He’ll be opposed by Michael Hendricks for Defiance. The senior right-hander is 6-1 with a 0.88 ERA and 59 strikeouts over 552/3 innings this season. He is committed to Miami (Ohio) next season.
