Citywide prayer event Wednesday
YOUNGSTOWN
NOW Youngstown will conduct a citywide prayer meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Metro Assembly of God, 2530 South Ave.
The event is in advance of Increase the Peace rallies sponsored by NOW Youngstown in cooperation with C.I.R.V. (Community Initiative to Reduce Violence) Project. Rallies will begin June 16 and feature music, testimonies, drama and mime, dance, carnival games, food and displays by various service providers.
Seven Valley teens on state AG board

Seven Mahoning Valley teens are members of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Teen Ambassador Board.
The board is open to high school juniors and seniors who serve for one year, advising the office on issues relating to teens and working with their peers to develop solutions.
The students are Alivia Trevor of Beaver High School; Jessica Wilhelm of Boardman High; Preston Cope and Dawson Benett, Crestview; Zachary Baker-Stowe, East Palestine; Emma Kanning, Hubbard; and Emily Coller, Lakeview.
Vallourec worker falls 20 feet to catwalk
YOUNGSTOWN
A worker fell 20 feet at Vallourec Star Friday afternoon.
The Youngstown Fire Department reported Chris Gordon, 27, was cleaning crane railings when he fell off a ladder and onto a catwalk below shortly after 5 p.m. His address was not available.
The fire department had to bring him down from the catwalk on a lift for transport to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. He was conscious, but the department could not confirm his condition.
The hospital would not release information Friday night.
Mercy Health offers diabetes program
YOUNGSTOWN
Mercy Health Youngstown, formerly Humility of Mary Health Partners, is offering diabetes education from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, 1044 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, and Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland.
Health care professionals who teach the course, which is certified by the American Diabetes Association, focus on the medical aspects of the disease such as medications, glucose monitoring, exercise and complications during the first session. The second and third sessions focus on learning to plan meals, count carbohydrates, interpret food labels and make positive food choices.

Former Our Lady of Hungary Church sold
YOUNGSTOWN
The former Our Lady of Hungary Church building, 545 N. Belle Vista Ave., has been sold for $23,000 to a nonprofit organization, said Bob Barko Jr., president and spokesman of 545 Management Group.
Fostering Dreams, a nonprofit group that strives to help children understand they are special and deserving, and to free them to dream, hope and believe things can and will be better, according to its website. It is run by Bob and Mary Alice Nobel.
The church, which closed in 2012, was bought by 545 Management Group in January 2014 with the hope of transforming it into an ethnic heritage center. The nonprofit organization, which had gained 501(c)(3) status, bought the former church, rectory and pavilion with green space for $1 and other considerations from the Diocese of Youngstown.
