CHAMPION SOFTBALL/Flashes ahead 4-0 in 7th


— Champion has a 4-0 lead on Bloom-Carroll going to bottom of seventh inning. Haylee Gardiner drove in two in top f seventh.

Champion scores two runs in the top of the third for a 2-0 lead over Bloom-Carroll. The Flashes had two hits and took advantage of two errors.

Through six innings, Gardiner has allowed two hits, one walk and one hit-batter.

In seventh inning, Bloom-Carroll will send 5-6-7 batters to plate..

Neither team scored in the first inning. Both teams have one hit and Champion stranded two runners.

Regular shortstop McKenna Coffman is pitching for Bloom-Carroll.

Champion softball team faces Bloom-Carroll for the Division III state title.

Taran Alvelo (25-2), who is tied for most wins in Ohio history, will not play for Bloom-Carroll. She was charged for shoplifting Thursday night.

Golden Flashes (29-4) are going for sixth state title in school history.
