Dutch oven cook-off at Beaver Creek

EAST LIVERPOOL

The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park will host a Dutch oven cook-off competition from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Participants must register at the trading post by 11 a.m. There is a $5 entry fee.

Competitors must bring their own Dutch oven and supplies. An in-ground fire pit will be assigned. Participants can use their own fire table if they choose. Cooking can take place between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. All cooking must be tended by an adult at all times.

Judging will begin at 2 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for best dish, one pot meal and oven-baked. Competitors are welcome to provide samples to the public during the day.

Game-developers film to be screened

BOARDMAN

A documentary film about the global subculture of indie game developers will be shown at Movies 8 on June 25 at 7:30 p.m.

The screening is sponsored by a new crowd-sourcing distribution service called Gathr. Gathr’s “theatrical-on-demand” process allows moviegoers to bring the movies they want to watch to a local theater with no facility rental cost and no risk.

The film explores the way indie games are changing the way we play, and how artists are using games as a form of expression.
