Junior Nathan Hadley qualified to the 2015 Regional Championship. The district meet at Austintown on May 22. He placed third in the 1600 and second in the 3200. The Spartans finished ninth overall behind Fitch. Solon was second and Kenston was third.
Following the 1600, Hadley spent the majority of the hour prior to the 3200 in the medical van due to back and hamstring injuries that have plagued him for more than a year and a half.
βI did not think he was going to be able to run the 3200 at all,β explained Boardman Head Coach John Phillips. βHe literally had no warm up time and was running against a very talented field, but to his credit he went out there and ran a great race. It may be one of the grittiest performances of any Boardman athlete in any sport ever.β
Also scoring for the Spartans was senior Doug Kephart with fifth place finishes in both the shot put and discus. Sophomore George Wallace placed sixth overall in the discus, senior Nick Long was sixth in the 1600 and eighth in the 3200, as well. Finally, the 4x800 relay team of Long, sophomore Nathaniel Ams, sophomore Nick Digiacomo and sophomore Chris Butler placed eighth.
