CLUBS

DAR Mahoning Chapter will meet at noon Monday at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Joann Cook, a 50-year-plus member, will talk about “My Family Tree is Full of Nuts.” Carol Hubbard, chaplain, will conduct a memorial service for those members who died during the past year, and a formal installation of new officers for 2015-17 will be conducted. A basket auction also will take place. This meeting wraps up the 2014-2015 year, and the chapter will not meet again until Sept. 21.

Mahoning Valley Stamp Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Highway Tabernacle, 3000 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown. The club meets the second Thursday of each month.

Metaphysical Insights 528 of Trumbull County will present Phyllis Compton, who will speak about “What Are Your Chakras Doing for You?” on Wednesday at the SCOPE Building, 220 W. Market St., Warren. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 7. Admission is $5 at the door.

GROUPS

Transcendental Interest Group will have its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Park Vista North Lounge, 1310 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. The meeting will be the first in a series of mindfulness courses. The courses are part of a DVD series by Dr. Ronald D. Siegel, professor of psychology at Harvard Medical School and University of Massachusetts Medical School. The series is organized into 30-minute segments. During each meeting, the group will listen to two segments and have time for questions and discussion after each segment. Attendees are encouraged to take a notebook and pen.

Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild has scheduled the following Neighborhood Group meetings: Designing Women machine embroidery group will meet at 10 a.m. June 12 at Domestic Sewing, 2011 Youngstown Road SE, Warren. The program will be “Weaving a Shrug.” Take your woven or knitted item or a piece of fabric, 23-by-60 inches. Work will be done on the pattern and construction of the shrug. Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will have a potluck dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at St. Charles Church Ministry Building, 7325 Westview Drive (corner of Route 224 and Westview Drive) in Boardman. It is handicap accessible. Sue Bell will present a program about “The Sultana Tragedy,” the worst maritime disaster in U.S. history, with more deaths reported than on the Titanic.
