AUSTINTOWN
In an effort to become united as a large Brookdale family, local and national senior-living centers have been renamed to include the Brookdale name.
The care offered at Brookdale will remain the same.
“This is a really exciting time for our community and all of Brookdale,” said Andrea Capirano, executive director for Brookdale Austintown, formerly Clare Bridge Austintown. “Brookdale really wanted to brand everyone together.”
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Brookdale Senior Living Inc. merged with Emeritus Corp. to create a national senior-living solutions company in 2014.
Brookdale now operates independent living, assisted living, dementia-care communities and continuing-care retirement centers with about 1,150 communities in 47 states. It is considered the largest senior-housing provider of senior health care in the nation.
A re-branding of Brookdale communities started last year with about 800 communities renamed now and more than 1,000 expected to be renamed by July 1.
Locally, Clare Bridge Austintown changed to Brookdale Austintown, and Sterling House of Youngstown changed to Brookdale Cornersburg. There also is a Brookdale Salem location.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to be connected and enrich the lives of our residents every day,” Capirano said.
Along with the new name comes a new sign and other updates, but the staff and service at Brookdale communities will not change.
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Brookdale Austintown on Thursday, local officials celebrated the facility they are happy to have in the township.
Brookdale Austintown, built in 1999, employs about 45 and typically houses 37 residents. This center is dedicated to memory care.
“The Austintown community just enjoys you being here,” said township Trustee Ken Carano.
Brookdale Cornersburg had a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to celebrate the name change.
“We are very excited about this change,” Phil Panno, executive director of Brookdale Cornersburg, said in a statement. “Becoming a part of Brookdale shows that we are a part of something bigger and that we are engaged in a nationwide mission to provide seniors with the highest-quality care, service and living accommodations.”
