A Hubbard High School graduate who won an $11,000 scholarship in 2014 welcomed this year’s recipients in Washington, D.C., last month.
Ryan Bosela, 20, who graduated in 2013 from Hubbard and from Trumbull County Career and Technical Center, and 11 other winners of the Scholarship America Dream Award from last year, were honored at the award ceremony of the National Press Club on May 19.
“Last year was the coolest thing, and this year was the greatest,” Bosela said.
Bosela appeared on the talk show “Katie” last year, where he was awarded the scholarship.
Katie Couric, and Graham Holdings Co. CEO Donald Graham were the co-founders of the award along with the General Motors Foundation, who all were honored for their contributions to higher education. Michelle Obama, first lady, and Jill Biden, the vice president’s wife, also spoke at the ceremony.
