Police arrest man who was shot for his role in funeral melee
YOUNGSTOWN — A Cincinnati man who was wounded in the arm at a funeral service Wednesday afternoon at Tod Homestead Ceremony on Belmont Avenue was arrested after was treated at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Richard Harris II, 25, was booked into the jail on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest.
Also arrested for her role in the 1:10 p.m. shooting was Harris' mother, Bonnie Weaver, no age available. She is charged with assault.
Detective Sgt. Darryl Martin said that Harris and his mother were beating the husband of the deceased when Harris' gun fell to the ground. The husband then picked up the gun and shot Harris, Martin said.
Martin said the husband will not face any charges because he was defending himself.
