YOUNGSTOWN

Jon Pandone and Kwai Daniels wanted to have a platform where Youngstown and Greater Youngstown residents, businesses and artists could connect.

So, they decided to develop a “Let’s Go Youngstown” app for iPhone and Android phones.

“The idea is this app would bring anything going on in the city together,” Pandone said.

Daniels, the owner of DP Visual Media, and Pandone, director of photography for DP Visual Media and developer of the app, are proud to be located in the city on Steel Street.

DP Visual Media produces the local TV show “Let’s Go Youngstown” on WBCB, the local CW network affiliate. The program started in 2013 as a way to showcase local talent and business.

The initial goal of the app was to have a way of sharing the show’s content and promote the show.

Then a local business directory and an artist directory were added.

“It encourages the users to engage with the business,” Pandone said. “It works out great with the customer and the business.”

The app is free, but businesses can pay $20 a month to register as a local business on the app. In total, about 40 businesses are on the app.

The app also has a radio stream and other features.

“Let’s Go Youngstown” has been downloaded more than 1,200 times already.

“I think we have been very successful in this short time so far,” Pardone said.
