Trumbull commissioners OK $800M power plant abatement
WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners approved the tax abatement for Clean Energy Future's $800 million Lordstown power plant this morning.
Bill Siderewicz, president of Clean Energy Future, told commissioners Wednesday the project is projected to have a $1.45 billion impact on the Mahoning Valley because of the 450 construction jobs to be associated with it for three years and about 30 permanent jobs and spinoff industries.
Closer to home, Siderewicz and Lordstown Superintendent Terry Armstrong announced that the company is also pledging to pay for demolition of a former school Lordstown school building at the corner of Tod Avenue and Salt Springs Road and build a new soccer field and all-weather track in front of Lordstown High School.
The company will also donate millions to the school system in exchange for the abatement.
