A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

May 29

Vandalism: A toaster sustained $600 in damage at a Center Road fast-food restaurant.

BOARDMAN

May 27

Arrest: While responding to a possible burglary in the 50 block of Carter Circle, officers took Kevin D. Cartwright into custody. Cartwright, 27, of Carter Circle, Boardman, was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Domestic violence: Authorities in Willoughby, Ohio, picked up Jeffrey L. Allen, 61, of Arlene Avenue, Boardman, after his estranged wife alleged Allen grabbed her hair and pushed her out of the way during an argument.

Theft: An Indianola Road woman reported a 5-gallon bucket containing plaster was stolen.

Theft/vandalism: Three catalytic converters and a drive shaft were stolen from vehicles, resulting in damage, at Rick Bayus Auto Sales Inc., 5206 Youngstown-Poland Road.

Domestic violence: Police took custody of 20-year-old Shane R. Woods of Indianola Road, Boardman, after a May 27 incident in which Woods’ girlfriend alleged that during an argument, he had threatened to shoot her, along with the accuser’s family and friends.

Theft: Two pairs of sunglasses valued at $371 were taken from Sunglass Hut in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A man stole two bottles of laundry detergent from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Stolen property: Police arrested 51-year-old David R. Grazier of Sexton Street, Struthers, at the Mahoning County jail on a misdemeanor receiving-stolen-property charge. He was accused of selling to a Youngstown-Poland Road business a $600 bracelet that had been stolen from a Lowellville woman.

Theft: Numerous fragrance and cologne items were stolen from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall, costing the business $1,246.

Theft: A refrigerator, an air-conditioning unit and a garage-door opener were removed from a rental home in the 1200 block of Meadow Lane.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: An Erie Street woman said her former boyfriend took and failed to return her 2010 Buick LaCrosse vehicle.

May 28

Attempted burglary: Someone reportedly tried to enter a home in the 20 block of Erskine Avenue. Police found a damaged door frame, but no signs of forced entry.

Theft: A woman age 25 to 30 stole about $30 worth of food items from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Breaking and entering: A witness reported seeing the front door to a residence in the 4100 block of Lockwood Boulevard open. Its handle was damaged, though it appeared nothing had been stolen.

Domestic violence: James C. Tribble, 31, of Sharon Drive, Boardman, faced charges of domestic violence, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and assault on a police officer after several family members alleged an intoxicated Tribble had threatened to kill them. After having been taken into custody, Tribble also kicked an officer in the groin area, a report stated.

Theft: A man in his 30s stole a $6 pair of men’s sunglasses from Dollar General, 4996 Market St.

Possible theft: A McDonald woman noticed two items missing while at a Market Street car dealership.

Burglary: To a residence in the 600 block of Angiline Drive, from which a designer purse and a wallet were taken. The loss came to $2,095.

Theft: Someone stole an undetermined quantity of merchandise from Dollar General, 4996 Market St.

Vandalism: Someone used a key to damage the finish on three vehicles at Donnell Ford, 7955 Market St.

May 29

Aggravated menacing: A worker for Buffalo Wild Wings in Southern Park Mall told police a former employee revealed a firearm after having been asked to leave the eatery.

Theft: An Aravesta Avenue woman reported a $130 front tire was removed from her vehicle.

Theft: A man in his late 20s or early 30s stole $76 worth of Green Bay Packers clothing from Touchdown Gifts & More in Southern Park Mall.

Citation: Officers responding to a complaint of possible drug use at a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging a Youngstown boy, 17, with having a suspected marijuana pipe in his car.

Assault: A woman reported a man had grabbed her arm, resulting in a bruise, as she retrieved property from her deceased mother’s Glenwood Avenue home.

Theft: A woman discovered her $300 smartphone missing while at a McClurg Road business.

Theft: Someone removed a $449 cellphone from an AT&T kiosk at Southern Park Mall.

Felonious assault: Jasmine L. Johnson, 28, of Sandpiper Trail, Warren, surrendered on charges of felonious assault and discharging a firearm into a habitation, both second-degree felonies, after a May 22 incident in which her boyfriend, of Boardman, alleged that during an argument in his garage, an irate Johnson had pointed a handgun in his direction, then fired one round. A 9 mm shell casing was found on his driveway, a report showed.

Theft: A 15-year-old city girl was accused of stealing $5 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Police charged 32-year-old Matthew J. Campbell of Garver Drive, Boardman, after an undisclosed sum of money was discovered missing May 3 from Steak ‘n’ Shake, 6786 Applewood Blvd.

Menacing: A Lealand Avenue man said he’s received several months’ worth of threatening and derogatory text and voicemail messages.

Theft: Three women took makeup and other merchandise from Walmart.

May 30

Auto theft: A 2002 Hyundai Elantra vehicle was stolen in the 200 block of Shields Road.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 7300 block of Salinas Trail, from which $1,700 and a book of checks were stolen.

Intimidation: A Mathews Road woman alleged her former boyfriend had posed on Facebook messages threatening her with bodily harm, apparently related to a pending domestic-violence case.

Menacing: A manager with a Boardman-Poland Road pizzeria reported a woman threatened him after she had been terminated.

Bad check: A Ewing Road man selling a dog told police he received a $1,150 check, which far exceeded his asking price of $300, before learning that it was counterfeit.

Theft: Authorities charged 42-year-old Suzanne M. Craft with theft after alleging Craft, of East Boston Avenue, Youngstown, had stolen three Sony PlayStation and five Xbox games from Walmart.

Theft: Jeremy D. Jones, 20, of Waseka Lane, Boardman, was charged with taking two cans of air freshener, men’s undergarments and other items from Walmart.

Domestic violence: Charles R. Schneider, 54, of Leighton Avenue, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Schneider had pushed her backward, picked her up and slammed her head on the floor during a heated argument. The accuser had a 2-inch cut on her head, and blood was found on a section of dining-room carpeting, a report showed.

Theft: Authorities charged Elizabeth Velazquez-Martel, 26, along with 28-year-old Luis A. Vargas, both of East Auburndale Avenue, Youngstown, after nine articles of children’s clothing, three Sony PlayStation games and two tubes of toothpaste were taken from Walmart.

May 31

Criminal damaging: Five sections of a fence sustained a total of $750 in damage in the 4900 block of Market Street.

Theft: Authorities charged 41-year-old Phillip R. Cline after alleging the Chester, W.Va., man had stolen about $840 worth of merchandise, including polo shirts, from Macy’s.

Theft: A woman discovered her wallet missing while at a Market Street discount store.

Menacing: A Carter Circle man reported a neighbor threatened him after he had asked the neighbor to keep his noise down.

Theft: Jeremiah V. McClarin, 29, of West Boulevard, Boardman, was charged in the theft of 20 articles of men’s clothing from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A Campbell girl, 17, was accused of stealing a phone charger, a cable and a power adapter from Walmart.

Theft: A .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol was removed from a car near Cook and Evans avenues.
