City police investigate Tuesday night shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating after a city man was shot at a home in the 900 block of West Indianola Avenue late Tuesday.

Police were called to a South Meridian Road gas station in Austintown about 10:15 p.m., where township police said they had a gunshot victim, Eric Vancobb, 35, inside a car.

City police Chief of Detectives Capt. Brad Blackburn said that after Vancobb was shot, his girlfriend drove him to Austintown for some reason, where they contacted city police.

Vancobb was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds to arm and chest.
