May Cruze sales down about 27 percent

LORDSTOWN — The Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze took a hit in last month.

A total of 23,752 Cruzes were delivered in the U.S. compared with 32,393 deliveries made in May 2014 — a 26.7 percent drop.

But May 2014 was the second best-selling month for the Cruze. There were 20,947 Cruzes sold this April compared with 21,752 last April.

Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers in the U.S. delivered 293,097 vehicles in May 2015, for General Motors Co.’s best May sales since 2007 and its best month since August 2008.

Total sales were up 3 percent year over year and retail sales were up 7 percent. Pickup trucks and crossovers were especially strong sellers.
