Nine people have applied to be the interim superintendent of Youngstown City Schools, a position expected to last about six months. The candidates, their hometowns and work experience:

Romy Simone Adams of Garfield Heights, Ohio, multicultural instructor in Cleveland State University’s College of Education; former principal at Lorain City Schools.

Jay G. Arbaugh of Ashland, Ohio, superintendent at Keystone Local Schools in LaGrange, Ohio, from 2010 to January 2015.

Landon A. Brown II of Canfield, principal of Stambaugh Charter Academy, Youngstown, since 2014.

Thomas F. Hill of Ann Arbor, Mich., superintendent of Bridgeport-Spaulding Schools, Bridgeport, Mich., since 2014.

Marva Kay Jones of Copley, Ohio, independent educational consultant, former superintendent of Warrensville Heights City Schools, from 2010 to 2014.

Maria Cougras Pappas of Poland, former superintendent of Cranberry Area Schools, Seneca, Pa., former principal at Paul C. Bunn Elementary in Youngstown.

Carol L. Staten of Youngstown, Youngstown City Schools utility administrator since 2015; formerly assistant principal at Chaney Campus and principal at former Hayes Middle School.

Stephen Anthony Stohla of Alliance, consultant at Tesla NanoCoating Inc. since 2011, former regional vice president for Northeast Ohio for Mosaica Education Inc.; Brookfield schools superintendent from 2007 to 2009.

Milton A. Walters of Silver Spring, Md., managing business consultant since 2005 and adjunct professor at both University of Maryland and Montreat College in Montreat, N.C. since 2014.
