UPDATE | Warrants issued after 3 Warren men injured by gunfire
WARREN — Arrest warrants have been issued for five people in connection to gunfire that injured three young city men Saturday at two locations about a half mile apart in the southwest part of the city.
All three men suffered major injuries, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, Warren police said this morning.
Men 18 and 19 were hit by gunfire at 1380 Fifth Street Southwest, at 12:43 p.m. The 19-year-old, from Ferndale Avenue Southwest, said he was fighting with someone when a gunshot hit him in the arm. The man was going to be transferred to a Cleveland hospital because of the seriousness of the wound, doctors said.
The other man, 18, of an apartment in the Hampshire House Apartments at 1380 Fifth Street Southwest, said he was shot while walking to his mother’s apartment at 1380 Fifth Street Southwest.
He said was shot after an unknown male confronted him about an argument he had with his girlfriend in the Hampshire apartments earlier.
Both men said the man they were arguing with was not the person who shot him, but both said they did not know who did.
Meanwhile, at a home at 770 Fourth Street Southwest, gunfire started early Saturday — 4:48 a.m. — and continued at 9:30 a.m. before a shooting that injured a man, 25, at 4:35 p.m., police said.
The man was shot in the back while on the porch of the house, said Det. John Greaver, who added that the incidents on Fourth Street and Fifth Street do not appear to be related.
A Fourth Street Southwest woman said she was sitting on the porch when a maroon Lincoln Navigator pulled up at 4:48 a.m., and two men inside fired shots. Police found 10 shell casings in the driveway near the porch.
At 9:30 a.m., police were called back for more gunfire at the woman’s address, in which a male wearing a blue bandana purportedy fired a gun into the home. Police found seven shell casings beside the the driveway.
The woman said she left in her car after the 9:30 a.m. gunfire, but the car had been hit by a gunshot and became disabled, she said. Another car parked beside the driveway was hit at least five times by bullets, she said.
Three gunshots also hit the house and one hit the garage, police said.
The shooting victim from Fourth Street is from Southern Boulevard.
