Man arrested after tantrum at Chofin
YOUNGSTOWN — A student at Chofin Career And Technical Center who reports said was upset he cannot attend his graduation ceremony was arrested Friday after he threw a tantrum at the school.
Reports said DeAunt'e Blackmon-Tensely, 19, of Arlington Street, was upset because he was suspended and because of the suspension cannot participate in graduation ceremonies.
A city police officer and deputy for the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office who were working security were called into the commons area of the school after Blackmon-Tensley was flipping over tables and throwing chairs and swearing at staff, reports said.
Reports said the deputy tried to grab his arm and the student threatened to hit him. The deputy tried to handcuff the student but Blackmon-Tensley would not calm down until he was tackled by the police officer, reports said.
Blackmon-Tensley was then cuffed and taken outside. A table was broken and other tables and chairs were scattered throughout the area, reports said.
He was taken to the county jail on charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal damaging.
