Armed robber hits Shell in Boardman

BOARDMAN

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Shell gas station at 8600 Glenwood Ave. near Western Reserve Road at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said a young man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt came into the store, pointed a revolver at the clerk and demanded money.

The clerk gave him money from the register and the robber fled.

Police tracked him with a dog, but the trail grew cold.

They are reviewing security camera footage for more information on the crime and suspect. Heavy rain, floods create road hazards

The 7600 block of Stewart-Sharon Road buckled after heavy rain Sunday, the Trumbull County dispatch center reported.

The center said the county is aware of the situation. The road is not closed, but drivers should be careful because driving on that stretch of could damage their cars.

Brookfield was one of several areas with flooded roads because of Sunday’s rain. Also experiencing problems were Sharon, Pa., Hubbard Township and Warren, the dispatch center said.

The storm drains were unable to accommodate the amount of rain that fell in such a short amount of time, the center said.
