Historical society to host open houses

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Girard Historical Society will host open houses from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9 and 23 at the Barnhisel Estate, 1011 N. State St., Girard. In addition to the restored home and furnishings, the display will feature artifacts from Ohio Leatherworks, a business that once thrived in Girard. One of its products was the Florsheim shoe.
