Police, paramedics assist homeless man pistol whipped under bridge


YOUNGSTOWN — An officer on his way to a call about 11:35 p.m. Wednesday on the West Side found a man who was pistol whipped in the head.

Reports said an officer was flagged down front in front of the main fire station on Martin Luther King Boulevard where a homeless man told him his friend was pistol whipped while sleeping underneath the Spring Commons Bridge.

When the officer went to the West Front Street end of the bridge, he found the 38-year-old victim bleeding from the head and nose.

Reports said the victim was able to identify the man who beat him. He was treated at the scene by paramedics.
