“Cinderella,SDRq Penn-Ohio Dance Center production of Prokofiev’s ballet, auditions Aug. 8 at Penn-Ohio Dance Center, 106 N. Mercer Ave., Sharpsville, Pa., and Aug. 9 at Steppin’ Out Dance Center, 815 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. Auditions for dancing roles for age 5 to 7 will be from 11 a.m. to noon; for age 8 to 11 from noon to 1 p.m.; and age 12 and older from 1 to 2 p.m. For character roles, auditions for age 12 and older will be from 2 to 3 p.m. There is a $5 audition fee. Auditionees are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to sign in. Dance auditions will consist of a brief ballet barre and center combinations relative to the roles being cast for each age group. Dancers age 12 and older are encouraged to stay after the dance portion of the audition for the theatrical, character-role audition. No previous experience is required for the character-role audition, and it is not required to be a registered student of Penn-Ohio Dance Center or Steppin’ Out Dance Center to audition for the production. Rehearsals will take place at both Pennsylvania and Ohio locations, primarily on weekends; schedule will be released upon casting. “Where There’s a Will,SDRq Aurora Community Theater, 115 E. Pioneer Trail, Aurora, will have auditions at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the theater basement (parking in back). Two staged readings of this new musical comedy will be Sept. 11 and 12. Directed by Marc C. Howard with music direction by Dustin Oliver, this is a huge, multicultural and somewhat male-dominated cast with many significant roles. Rehearsal schedule will be fairly minimal: 10 to 15 evenings throughout August and September, leading up to the staged readings. Music and script will not need to be memorized. The public readings will be for small test audiences and will be used to further develop this original script. Written by Tim Shaffer with music by Tim Shaffer and Dustin Oliver, “Where There’s a Will” follows a group of inmates as they try to produce a prison’s first Easter musical. Auditionees should prepare 16 to 32 bars of music that they feel show off their singing abilities. Bring sheet music for accompanist (provided). There also will be some reading from the script.
