Flavor Flav fires lawyer in NY case

MINEOLA, N.Y.

Entertainer Flavor Flav has fired his second lawyer in his New York traffic case and his plea deal is kaput.

The rapper and reality TV star said Tuesday in a Mineola courtroom that he doesn’t deserve a felony charge.

There had been talk of a plea deal. But the judge and prosecutor said it’s been revoked.

Flav’s real name is William Drayton. He previously pleaded not guilty to driving with a suspended license, along with a speeding violation and two misdemeanors. The charges stemmed from his January 2014 arrest on Long Island while driving to his mother’s funeral.

Flav lives in Las Vegas. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 with the rap group Public Enemy. His next court date is Aug. 10.
