Man in custody after brief standoff on Idora Avenue

YOUNGSTOWN — A South Side man is in the Mahoning County jail after a brief standoff at a home in the 500 block of Idora Avenue late Monday.

Delis Figueroa, 44, was taken into custody on charges of domestic violence, obstructing official business and discharging a firearm within city limits.

Police were called to the home about 11:40 p.m. for a report of a man shooting a gun. Police saw a man and woman inside the home and when the man would not come out, the Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team was called out.

The man, later identified as Figueroa, surrendered without incident.

He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
