Event to help Caranos with transplant costs

HUBBARD

Braydich Dental will host a benefit spaghetti dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at First United Methodist Church, 48 Church St., for Nancy Carano. She and her husband, Nick, of Girard and formerly of Hubbard, owned Carano’s IGA.

Nancy has battled numerous health issues since 1992, which led to cirrhosis of the liver. In 2010 she was placed on a liver transplant list through the Cleveland Clinic.

Their granddaughter wants to donate part of her liver to Nancy and is being screened to see if she is a match.

Proceeds will help the Caranos with out-of-pocket expenses from the many medications, hospital stays and travel costs associated with the transplant. The money also will help their granddaughter with her expenses if she is a match.

All donations, basket auction items or volunteers would be appreciated.
