BOOK SALES

Springfield Capital Campaign Committee will have a fundraising book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on the front lawn of the Springfield Library, 10418 Main St., New Middletown.

CAR SHOWS

Austintown Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road, will be the location of a fundraising car show from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 15. There will be a DJ, refreshments and prizes. To register call 330-740-6086.

CRAFT SHOWS

Christ, the Good Shepherd Parish Youth Group is sponsoring a craft show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 9. There will be a basket auction and a 50-50 raffle. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Admission and parking are free. For information call 330-774-0088.

FESTIVALS

St. Luke Church on South Avenue in Boardman is preparing for its seventh annual Polish Day Festival from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 30. Organizers are seeking vendors of all types. There is space for 10 marketplace vendors. Authentic ethnic retail, craft, fine art and food vendors are preferred, but all interested groups are welcome. The deadline for registration is Aug. 7. FUNDRAISERS

Campbell Memorial High School Alumni Association will host a scholarship fundraiser, its annual Reverse Raffle and Dinner, on Oct. 24 at Archangel Michael Hall, 12th Street in Campbell. Tickets cost $60 per person, and the grand prize will be $1,500. The alumni association has awarded $85,000 to date in scholarships to graduating seniors and Campbell Memorial alumni pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies. RAFFLES

St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard, is selling tickets for a raffle of up to $5,000 and a 60-inch flat-screen television. It will take place at the Summer Food Taste from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug.15. Raffle prizes will include a $3,000 second prize and $1,000 third prize. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The food taste will include Cocca’s Pizza, Margherita’s Grille, Marco’s Pizza and Kathleen Classics. Lemon shakes, cotton candy, caramel corn, hot dogs, and pop and water can be purchased, and there will be a bake sale. There also will be a basket raffle, games, face painting, clowns, Mary Kay Cosmetics, jewelry and Moe’s Private Reserve (fine spices). For information call the rectory at 330-545-4351.

SALES

Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Road, is accepting donations of good, workable and usable items for its rummage sale. The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 7 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 8. Fill a brown paper bag for $4 all day Aug. 7 and until noon Aug. 8. From noon to 1 p.m. fill paper bags for $1. Large items will be priced separately. Drop off items for the sale from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday. No exercise equipment or large upholstered furniture will be accepted. Proceeds will support the missions of Damascus United Methodist Women. A bake sale and lunch bar also will be available.

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothes for the entire family. All jeans and slacks for women and men will be $2.50 during July. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Jackson Township Citizens Association is sponsoring a community-wide yard sale in North Jackson with a festival atmosphere beginning at 9 a.m. both Aug. 7 and 8. More than 200 vendors will be participating, and maps will be available on the days of the sale at the Jackson Milton football stadium, 10748 Mahoning Ave. More than 100 vendors will be at the football stadium. Businesses, organizations and individual homeowners will offer items and food for sale. Funds raised will be used for a digital electronic sign for the community. For information call 330-727-5449.

Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield, will host a trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 7 and from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 8. Items for sale include household goods, linens, kitchen items, utensils, home decor, games, puzzles and toys. Use the front entrance of the church.

Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., Youngstown, will host a Country Store on Sept. 5. There will be food, fun and vendors. Table rentals are open to local businesses and residents. To rent a table call Thea Howell at 330-333-3979.

St. William Church, 5431 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, will have a rummage sale in its social hall and adjoining classrooms from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 and 7 and from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 8, which is bag day. A lunch counter will be available.

Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Cornersburg, will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Hospital beds, medical equipment, a large doll collection in original boxes, children’s wooden chairs, electronics, church related items, kitchen items and lots of miscellaneous items will be available.

TRIPS

Jewish Community Center is planning a bus trip Sept. 27 to Pittsburgh for the musical “Jersey Boys,” the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The bus will leave the JCC at 11 a.m. and return at 7 p.m. Prices are $90 for members and $100 for nonmembers. The cost includes an orchestra seat and transportation. Dinner is on your own.
