New-play festival at Playhouse

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The two plays selected for this year’s Voices of the Valley New One-Act Play Festival at the Youngstown Playhouse will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the theater’s Moyer Room.

The plays are “Just Someone at a Party,” written by Terry L. Shears and directed by Dylan White; and “Clarity,” written by Michael J. Angelo III and directed by Pat Foltz.

“Party” strips away the artifice of first impressions and shows the underlying human condition of two strangers. The cast includes Craig and Liz Conrad.

“Clarity” is about a family of eccentric people who love and support one another in their own odd and wonderful way.

The cast includes Bernie Appugliese, Candace DiLullo, Matthew Mazuroski, James McClellan, Tracy McQuillan, John Pecano and Brenda Zyvith.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at the theater or by calling 330-788-8739 (not available online).

Since 2012, Voices of the Valley has brought playwrights together with directors and actors and provided them an opportunity to collaborate as their new works are fostered and prepared for fully staged productions.
