The incident, believed to be a domestic, happened t 6 p.m. Sunday
SHARON, PA.
A man was killed and his wife seriously injured in a double shooting between the two Sunday evening in a parking lot at East State Street and Stambaugh Avenue abutting the east side of Sharon Regional Health System, police said.
Killed was William Emmett, 45, of Greenville, who died at the scene. Amy Emmett was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where she was undergoing surgery and in critical condition Sunday night, said Sharon Police Chief Gerald Smith.
The police chief said the shootings were reported to police about 6 p.m. He said an estimated seven shots were fired, and each victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds in what police termed a domestic situation.
“We are not looking for any other shooter,” Smith said.
Police were still at the scene at 10 p.m. looking for evidence and interviewing eyewitnesses. A handgun was recovered, Smith said.
Both victims were found lying on the tarmac of the Woodrow Court parking lot that police believe is either leased or owned by Sharon Regional.
The police chief said it appeared that the Emmetts wrestled over a single gun.
