Friends of the Youngstown Symphony Society are invited to Summer Serenade, a benefit for the society’s education outreach program. It will take place at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bruno. This is an invitation-only event, but anyone can call the symphony office at 330-744-4269 for an invitation.

The home and gardens of the Brunos will be showcased. The party will begin with a champagne stroll through the formal rose garden and cottage garden with hostess LinQing Yang, followed by a self-guided tour of the residence and comments by architect Greg Strollo and contractor James Dunlap.

Guests will be serenaded by Youngstown Symphony Orchestra musicians John Wilcox, Elizabeth Jones, James Dunlap and Jacqueline Pitman, string quartet members; Megan Benchwick, violinist; Kathleen Shaffer, Alice Wang and Anna Marsh, woodwind trio members; and MaryJo Maluso and Rick Blackson, Broadway and Beyond duo.

A reception buffet will be served with accompanying wines selected by Mr. Bruno. The evening will conclude with fireworks.

Sponsors for the evening are the Brunos, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Covelli and Bruce Zoldan of Phantom Fireworks.

Reservations will be accepted until Aug. 7; call the symphony office.

A shuttle service will be provided to guests from Creekside Professional Center, 6715 Tippecanoe Road.

Symphony Society educational outreach programs include musical instruction and performance opportunities for students in grades 5 through 12 and youth concerts at schools from Oct. 19 through 23.
