Staff report

POLAND

The Mahoning Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has scheduled its Fun Brunch Social from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 8 at Bethel Friends Social Hall, 2771 Spitler Road.

The social will serve to introduce DAR to the community and will feature light refreshments that members have prepared. The meeting will include tips to help guests research their family line.

Reservations are required as soon as possible. For information contact Marty Campana at 330-503-2013 or mccampana@northwood.com, Mildred Lumley at milliel@zoominternet.net or Dolores Ronzi at 330-792-1038 or dolardawn@aol.com.

Mahoning Valley women are invited to attend and learn more about DAR. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but a bond they share is that they descend from someone who helped the United States gain independence.

Any woman 18 or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible to join DAR.

Women who think they might be the direct descendant of a Revolutionary War patriot should attend the social to learn how DAR can assist them in their lineage search.

The DAR is a nonprofit, nonpolitical women’s volunteer service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism.
