SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

The Penn State Extension is hosting a Dairy Twilight Tour from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 4 at Hartzell Farm, 111 Hartzell Lane.

Participants can enjoy ice cream while learning new information on the tour.

This event is free and open to all exhibitors, local dairy producers and industry, but pre-registration is appreciated. Registration can be done online at extension.psu.edu/dairy-twilight, or call the Mercer County Extension office at 724-662-3141.

Hands-on demonstrations will be offered, including locomotion scoring activity, farm safety, cow comfort and gravity-flow manure system. For information, call Ginger Fenton at 724-662-3141.

Camp in the park

Mill Creek MetroParks will host Family Camp in the Park beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday through 1 p.m. next Sunday.

The event includes nature programs and hikes, a family scavenger hunt, evening campfire, children’s outdoor story time, family games, craft activities, an early bird morning hike and more.

Each camping space is $5 for residents of Mahoning County and $10 for nonresidents. The fee for each participant is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. Limited tent rental is available for $15 per tent.

Night Out event

NEW MIDDLETOWN

The village of New Middletown will host a National Night Out event at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Night Out is a crime-prevention event that aims to build neighborhood unity and strengthen police-community partnerships.

It will include a parade that will begin at Springfield High School and end at St. Paul Church on Main Street. A cookout will follow at the New Middletown Village Municipal Building.
