Brownlee Woods confab is Thursday
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will meet Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., featuring the city’s police chief.
Refreshments and social time will begin at 6 p.m., and the business meeting is set for 6:30.
Due to a recent rash of home invasions and car break-ins, the group has invited police Chief Robin Lees and the new 7th Ward community police officer, patrolman Phil Skowron, to attend the meeting and discuss quality-of-life ordinances the community police will be enforcing.
Participants will learn how the program works and are invited to ask questions concerning recent criminal activity in the area. Councilman John R. Swierz, D-7th, will attend to report on events and projects in Brownlee Woods.
The group also will host a “Movie in Lynn Park” event Aug. 8 at dusk, and show “Alexander’s Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.” The event is lawn-seating only; guests must bring their own lawn chairs. The event is free.
