YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Young Professionals, in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, are accepting nominations for the annual 25 Under 35 Awards, which is in its third year.

The program will recognize the Valley’s best and brightest young professionals at an awards ceremony, set for Feb. 11 at Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue. Nominations can be made by visiting www.MVYPClub.com, www.cfmv.org or email rose@tbeic.org for a copy of the nomination form.

Nominees must be between age 21 and 35 and may not exceed 35 years of age Aug. 31, and must live and work primarily in Columbiana, Mahoning or Trumbull counties. The deadline to nominate is Aug. 26.

Molnar Farms event

POLAND

Molnar Farms, 3115 E. Western Reserve Road, will host its third annual open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8.

The family-friendly and fun-filled day at the farm will feature the farm’s vendors who will provide fresh ice cream and other food. Farm tours will be offered on hayrides. The farm offers fresh, locally grown produce including sweet corn, tomatoes, peaches and peppers.

Execs to present at investor conference

United Community Financial Corp., the holding company of The Home Savings and Loan Co., announced that Gary Small, president and chief executive officer, along with Matt Garrity, executive vice president, Commercial Lending and Credit Administration, will be presenting at the Keefe, Bruyette & Woods 2015 Community Bank Investor Conference in New York City at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Session will target safety, fall prevention

HOWLAND

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host a session about how companies can prevent and deal with falls at the Grand Pavilion at Avalon, 9519 E. Market St., from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the program starting at noon Aug. 5. The session will feature Dave Gallegly, fall protection specialist, from Miller Fall Protection by Honeywell Safety Products, who will address topics such as rescue awareness, shock-absorbing lanyards and self-retracting lifelines, hardware compatibility, updates to the general industry fall protection standards and suspension trauma.

FirstEnergy raises fraud awareness

AKRON

FirstEnergy Corp. has launched a scam and fraud information section on its website to help raise awareness of fraudulent activity and educate utility customers about these threats.

The new site, at www.firstenergycorp.com/scaminfo, lists known scams targeting utility customers and provides resources to help consumers identify fraudulent schemes.
