Craft for August will be bird feeders

SALEM

Make whimsical bird feeders for our feathered friends and the occasional unruly squirrel at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at Getting Your Crafty On in Salem Library’s Quaker Room, 821 E. State St.

This program is free to attend and open to the public.

UM church will offer summer festival

BROOKFIELD

Brookfield United Methodist Church will host Summer Fest on the Green on Aug. 8 and 9.

Food booths and displays will open at 10 a.m. each day.

Residents and groups are encouraged to participate in the Community Parade, at 5 p.m. Aug. 8.

Other activities will include a 5K run, bike and wagon parade, bed races, car cruise and a pet parade.

Kids can participate in make-and-take crafts.

Live music is planned in the form of the Loaded Blues Band and the Squeezebox Polka Band.

Food will include rotisserie chicken dinners, an outdoor craft and vendor show and sale and a basket raffle.

Historical society will host open house

NORTH BLOOMFIELD

Members of the North Bloomfield Historical Society will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9 at the society home, 1893 Town Hall, on the square. Local blueberries will be featured in pies, muffins, ice cream with blueberry topping and other sweet treats available for a donation.

The model of the town center as it looked in 1915 will be on exhibit with toy tractors from a private collector.

2015 is the bicentennial of the settlement of the township and the event is part of the yearlong remembrance of its history.
