Township police are investigating a reported case of breaking and entering at a vacant house on Tam O Shanter Drive.

A neighbor reported Thursday that two people entered the house, but they left after the neighbor confronted them.

Police observed signs of forced entry to a rear door. The house is owned by Federal National Mortgage, based in Texas.

Televisions stolen

Police are investigating the theft of eight televisions from the Kmart store, 4475 Mahoning Ave.

According to a police report, two unidentified males entered the business between 3:08 p.m. and 3:29 p.m. Wednesday. The two men loaded the eight TVs into two shopping carts, totaling about $1,500 worth of merchandise.

They then walked behind the toy and Craftsman departments, through a rear stockroom and out an exit door that triggered a door alarm.

A third person, who stayed in their vehicle while the two men were inside, drove the car around the building and they left the business with the televisions.

March scheduled

YOUNGSTOWN

The city of Youngstown will host a March Against Crime event at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at Wick Park on the city’s North Side.

The march will begin at Madison Avenue and Elm Street by the fire station and proceed along Park Avenue to Fifth Avenue to Broadway, then back to Wick Park with a picnic to follow.

Lane restrictions

YOUNGSTOWN

South Avenue and Midlothian Boulevard will have various lane restrictions starting Aug. 3 for signal replacements.

According to a news release from the Ohio Department of Transportation, the work on South Avenue will be between Midlothian and just south of Interstate 680 and on Midlothian between South and Southern Boulevard.

This work is the start of a $1 million project to replace signals along both of those roads and is scheduled to be finished by June 2016.

Buddy Walk set

The Down Syndrome Association of the Valley 2015 Buddy Walk, one of more than 250 events planned in cities across the country and around the world this fall in and around October in recognition of Down Syndrome Awareness Month, will take place at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 at The Shops at Boardman Park.

Participants include, but are not limited to, people with Down syndrome, their families, friends, teachers, co-workers and other supporters.
