Comics, Mod Podge and Pinterest brought out creative superheroes on July 13 at the Boardman library.

Students between the ages of 7-12 were invited to come in on the rainy day and create superhero-themed projects while getting to relax, watch “The Avengers” and enjoy complimentary snacks.

Librarian Allison Graf led the class, bringing comic books, picture frames, snacks and movie to the event. Kate Folkenroth attended, full of ideas to make a creative picture frame.

Folkenroth said she was glad to be able to come that day because she hasn’t been able to make any of the others due to a busy schedule.

She gathered comics, cutting out words to place overtop of pictures.

Graf joked that she was stealing Kate’s idea, using words in her craft.

“She [Kate] said she found words in the one and I thought that would be cool,” Graf said.

Folkenroth said although she’s not as into comic books as she is into reading books, she spends a lot of time with her neighbors, who enjoy comics.

Her idea of blending the words in with the pictures showed her creative side meshing with her underlying love of books.

“I’m creative only on certain days,” Folkenroth said. “Today is a good day to be creative.”
