A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:

HUBBARD

July 16

Identity fraud: A Drummond Avenue woman noticed several unauthorized transactions to her bank account over a weeklong period that amounted to $1,022.

July 17

Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular crash near Christian Avenue, where they charged 53-year-old Patricia L. Mann of Grandview Avenue, Hubbard, with operating a vehicle impaired. Mann’s blood-alcohol count was 0.172, more than twice the legal limit, a report showed.

July 19

Arrest: A traffic stop on South Main Street resulted in 25-year-old Stephanie D. Buxton’s arrest. Buxton, of East Ravenwood Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on three bench warrants charging failure to appear in court.

Arrest: Officers received a tip regarding an erratic driver on North Main Street before charging Nicholas J. Policastro, 28, of Erie Street, Hubbard, with operating a vehicle impaired.

GIRARD

July 18

Theft: A man reportedly stole $34 worth of groceries from Santisi’s IGA Super Center, 419 N. State St.

Assault: A woman told police that while at a Hazel Street residence, another woman became enraged, tossed a rag in her face and grabbed the accuser’s arm, forcing her to the ground.

Identity fraud: A Patricia Drive woman discovered $281 worth of fraudulent activity on her credit-card statements.

Theft: A man reported two ornaments had been removed from his backyard in the 1000 block of Gary Avenue.

July 19

Assaults: Two women told police that while in the 600 block of North Ward Avenue, they were punched or scratched during an attack.

July 20

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail arrested Norman V. Starks, 60, of Fifth Street, Struthers. He was wanted on a Girard warrant.

Breaking and entering: Someone forcibly entered a piece of rental property in the 400 block of Illinois Avenue, damaging a side-door frame.

Harassment: Two East Broadway Avenue residents said they received the latest in a series of harassing, unsolicited calls.

Theft: A man discovered $80 and 90 prescription pills missing from his home in the 10 block of East Liberty Street.

Drugs: Authorities in the 300 block of South State Street took into custody Jeremy J. Potts of East Liberty Street, Girard. The 31-year-old Potts was wanted on a felony drug-possession warrant.

July 21

Arrest: Police charged 52-year-old Lawrence Love of Broadview Avenue, Girard, with making a false alarm, a misdemeanor, after Love called 911 to claim his girlfriend was removing his property from the residence. Love made the call knowing that officers were already at the scene, they said.

LIBERTY

July 16

Arrest: Police in Youngstown picked up Allen M. Bell of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Youngstown. The 21-year-old Bell was accused of failing to appear in court.

Arrest: Karen C. Degenaro, 38, of Basil Court, Poland, was booked at the Mahoning County jail on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Domestic violence: A 17-year-old township boy was charged with the crime after his grandmother alleged the teen had threatened to punch her head shortly after she woke him up to discuss family matters.

Burglary: Someone forcibly entered an apartment in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue via the front door, then stole a bottle of beer and a bowl of quarters.

Drugs: Police on Belmont Avenue pulled over and arrested 30-year-old William B. Steele of East Prospect Street, Girard, on charges of drug abuse and possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Steele had a small bindle containing what appeared to be cocaine, as well as a small bag of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe, a report showed.

Theft/vandalism: Three air-conditioning units were stolen from New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts-Wick Road. The loss was estimated at $36,000.

Arrests: A traffic stop on Liberty Street resulted in the arrests of 23-year-old Albert Boykin of Rush Boulevard, Youngstown, on warrants charging domestic violence and child endangerment; 52-year-old Thomas B. Scott of Burton Street, Warren, on two warrants charging failure to appear in court; and 81-year-old Isaac A. Box of Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, on two warrants from Warren.

Domestic violence: Shawna A. Conn, 25, of Hadley Avenue, Liberty, was charged with domestic violence and criminal damaging after her partner alleged Conn had pushed her during an argument, causing the accuser to hit a wall and injure her leg. Also, Conn broke the victim’s cellphone before she could call 911, a report showed.

July 17

Arrest: Officers were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to book Jeffrey T. Shorter of East Avondale Avenue, Youngstown. Shorter, 46, was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.

Theft: The son of a Mill Run Drive man reported 12 settings of expensive china valued at $3,800 were removed from the residence.

Recovered property: A man said he found part of a firearm’s magazine and nine rounds of ammunition in the street in the 100 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

Robbery: Authorities charged 28-year-old Frank L. Covington of Milwaukee with robbery, receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools after roughly $10,300 worth of merchandise, including four camcorders and 67 calculators, was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. While trying to flee, Covington also punched a loss-prevention official’s face, police alleged.

July 18

Arrest: Officers arrested 18-year-old Destiny Brown of Hadley Avenue, Liberty, during a traffic stop near Gypsy Lane. Brown was wanted on a warrant charging theft.

Aggravated menacing: A Holly Drive woman told police her 39-year-old former boyfriend, of Girard, threatened to harm her. Also, an officer who answered her phone reported the man threatened to kill the accuser and obtain a firearm if arrested.

Identity theft/drugs: Authorities investigating suspicious activity near Gypsy Lane charged 56-year-old Ricardo R. Wallace of Northview Boulevard, Youngstown, with one felony count of identity theft, as well as 41-year-old Lisa M. Rafidi of Shields Road, Boardman, with possession of drugs and dangerous drugs. Wallace fraudulently used another person’s information and Social Security number as police tried to ascertain his identity, and found was a bottle with several types of pills, some for which Rafidi admitted having no prescription, a report stated.

Arrest: Police near Roosevelt Drive took Jacob Mechling, 21, of North Loveless Lane, Youngstown, into custody on a Warren Municipal Court warrant after having pulled him over. Also, 19-year-old Franky J. Munoz of Alameda Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with driving under suspension.

July 19

Theft: A $100 compact-disc player was taken from a car in the 4100 block of Logangate Road.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Northview Boulevard woman alleged her son took her 2003 Jeep vehicle without permission.

Vandalism: A Mineral Ridge man reported that while driving in the 1600 block of Liberty Avenue, someone threw eggs at his car, damaging its front windshield. In addition, his passenger told police she had been struck in the face.

Arrest: Coitsville police handed 61-year-old Augustus Ferrell to Liberty authorities. Ferrell, of Woodbine Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Girard Municipal Court.

July 20

Assault: A Fairmont, W.Va., woman alleged a Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman, 22, had kicked her face during an argument between them at the residence.

Arrest: Allison Harris, 27, of Northwood Avenue, Youngstown, was booked at the Mahoning County jail on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court.

Theft: A Youngstown woman noticed her wallet missing while at a Belmont Avenue grocery store.

Drugs: Authorities received information about an unresponsive person in a vehicle before charging 35-year-old Jason D. Marble of Colonial Drive, Liberty, with operating a vehicle impaired and possession of drug-abuse instruments. A hypodermic needle was found, and when he came to, Marble admitted to paramedics he had taken an unknown quantity of Valium, a report said.

Vandalism: A charge was pending against an 18-year-old Hubbard man after an employee with Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, alleged he had damaged two toilets and two smoke detectors. Also, glass to an emergency-exit door had been broken, a report stated.

Theft: A worker for Rental Corral, 1530 Gypsy Lane, reported a 27-year-old Columbus man rented but stopped making payments on three items, including a popcorn machine.

Theft: A Girard man noticed his $600 cellphone missing while at a baseball field in the 1300 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

Theft/criminal damaging: A woman in the 3200 block of Logan Way reported her vehicle’s driver’s-side window shattered. Stolen were a checkbook and 10 to15 checks.
