Ohio Rail Commission OKs rail improvements between Lordstown and North Jackson

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Rail Development Commission OK'd $285,500 in grant funding today for line improvements between Lordstown and North Jackson.

The funds will be used for tie replacements and surfacing work along more than four miles of track currently used by one company but potentially a draw for others considering vacant industrial property near the community's GM plant.

The total project will cost about $571,000, with the Norfolk Southern Railway covering the balance.
