City, 910th Airlift Wing begin to take down vacant homes

YOUNGSTOWN — An excavator's claw turned the house at 585 E. Lucius Ave. Into matchsticks and rubble this morning.

The vacant structure is the first blighted property to be demolished through a partnership between the city and the 910th Airlift Wing at the Youngstown-Warren Air Reserve Station in Vienna.

Twelve houses will be demolished in the neighborhood surrounding Taft Elementary School.
