BREAKING NEWS: Former Boardman teacher gets probation on sex charges

YOUNGSTOWN — A retired Boardman Center Middle School teacher was sentenced to five years' probation and 75 days in the Mahoning County jail in common pleas court today on charges he sexually took advantage of three women he was dating.

Judge Maureen Sweeney sentenced Jay Dana, 58, on two counts of sexual battery and one count of attempted sexual battery.

Three women said Dana took advantage of them while they were impaired in 2006 and 2011. He was indicted in May 2013.

Dana also has to register as a sex offender.

The sentence was jointly recommended by prosecutors and the defense.
