Opening statements set to begin in Cochrane trial

YOUNGSTOWN — Opening statements will get underway in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court today before Judge Maureen Sweeney in a 2014 murder case.

Matthew Cochrane, 26, of Youngstown, is charged with aggravated murder for the death of Dajhon Neely, 20, of Liberty.

Neely died March 31, 2014, in St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after he was shot while in a car March 29 on South Avenue at the junction with Interstate 680.

A jury was selected Tuesday.
