Man arrested, charged in triple homicide at Cleveland home

CLEVELAND (AP) — A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder in the fatal shootings of three people at a home on Cleveland’s east side.

Police arrested Dalevon Artis today in Kirtland, a suburb east of Cleveland. Cleveland police then obtained an arrest warrant for Artis on three counts of aggravated murder.

He’s accused of killing 76-year-old Melvin Johnson; Johnson’s 58-year-old girlfriend, Nancy Worthean; and Johnson’s 26-year-old niece, K’yara Artis. It’s unclear if K’yara Artis is related to the suspect.

Cleveland police found the bodies of the three victims on Friday after neighbors expressed concerns about their welfare.

It’s unclear why Kirtland police arrested Dalevon Artis. He’s a convicted felon and has previously been charged there with carrying a concealed weapon and having weapons under disability.
