Coitsville Fire Department gets federal funding for tanker truck


COITSVILLE — The Coitsville Volunteer Fire Department has received a $247,905 grant through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security for the purchase of a 1,800- to 2,000-gallon tanker truck.

The funds, a part of round nine of the competitive Fiscal Year AFG, was announced today by U.S. Rep. Timothy Ryan of Howland, D-13th.

Coitsville fire Chief Chris Manack said specifications for the truck will be developed and the firefighting vehicle will be put out for bid. The grant money has to be spent within a year, the chief said.
