Pair guilty of mansion destruction sentenced to a year in jail


YOUNGSTOWN — The two people accused of burning down the historic Firestone Mansion in North Lima last fall were sentenced to one year in the Mahoning County jail today and five years probation in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Alexis Little, 20, of Sunnybrook Drive and Brian McKinney, 21, of Lakeshore Drive, were also sentenced for spray painting part of the Old Mill in Mill Creek Park a few days after the fire.

Judge Lou D'Apolito handed down the sentences.

They both apologized for their actions and both said they were under the influence of drugs during both incidents.

The pair pleaded guilty May 27 to charges of arson, a fourth degree felony and vandalism, a fifth degree felony.

The mansion, which was built in 1880 and being renovated, was destroyed in an arson.
