KASICH UPDATE | It's official; John Kasich is a presidential contender

COLUMBUS — “I have decided to run for president of the United States.”

It took Ohio Gov. John Kasich about 15 minutes into his speech today at Ohio State University to make the official announcement.

Before that, Kasich, a Republican, discussed his family – past and present – and about the challenges people face with children returning from college without jobs, and members of the minority community wondering if “sometimes” the system works against them.

“I have the experience and the testing” to be president, Kasich said.

Kasich becomes the 16th Republican candidate to announce for the presidency for the 2016 election.
